Hi friends!
Today is my last day in the San Francisco Bay Area since I'm flying back to Canada tomorrow. A month in California flew by so fast! I'll miss seeing my friends and family, but I'm looking forward to being back.
Here's what I want to share this week:
🖋️ Quote of the week
"Before you try to increase your willpower, try to decrease the friction in your environment." - James Clear
🚀 Published essays
No new published essays this week. I've been heads down writing about some pre-IPO startups. I still can't who will be publishing them, but I'll make the great reveal within a few weeks!

Creators, Culture, & Crypto: State of the Union by Rex Woodbury (YouTube Video)
As an active participant in the Creator Economy, I'm always looking to better understand what influences this market and where the industry is headed. Rex is one of the experts in this market and shares his insights in his Digital Native newsletter. He's a Partner with Index Ventures and a content creator himself. Coincidentally, he came in as a guest speaker for one of my venture fellowships and answered our questions about writing, VC, and his work. In Creators, Culture, & Crypto: State of the Union, Rex shared how the Creator Economy saw a growth spike in Q1 and Q2 of 2020 through the convergence of Covid-19, the rise of TikTok, and the coming-of-age of Gen Z, and how the future is Web3.
📸 Picture of the week
This week is "Survival Week" at Draper University, which means that today at 4 AM in the morning, students get a wake-up call to prove they are worthy of being badass startup founders. As a Boost VC alumnus, I got a chance to stay at the Draper University building for a few nights as my husband attended the Augmented World Expo (AWE) conference in Silicon Valley. The picture above shows my view of the pool before and after. All I can say is...best of luck to the founders!
It can be a bloody battlefield out there.
🤔 My question for you
Jealousy is often portrayed as a negative emotion that needs to be diffused immediately. But in reality, it's worth paying attention to. Jealousy tells you something you admire, lack, and should strive toward. This reframe will help you learn more about your desires and test your motivation to achieve them.
So what are you jealous about?
👋🏽 That's all for now
I’d love to hear from you, whether it’s feedback on what you enjoyed about this week’s newsletter, what needs work, and what you want to hear more about. Just hit reply.
Chat with you all next week!
Cheers,
Neilda
